We're learning how challenging, and rewarding family shoots can be with young children! It's fun to capture them in all of their moments; sassy, sweet, and pouty with a side of peek-a-boo, they are all ever changing, so to watch them grow from shoot to shoot and see their personalities shine through photographs is really one of the best parts of being a photographer. This session at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, provided some wonderful natural artistic lighting, a sweet urban backdrop that was subtle enough to not distract from the adorable faces, and added just enough of twist to the portraits to make them a little more unique.
Our Finley boy was the happiest dog in the world today, as he really enjoyed his first time playing water fetch. At first, when the stick he was so longing for was tossed out into the river, he began to look under water to retrieve it, whole head submersion style, and absolutely determined to get that dang stick! Finley did finally figure it out, only after pointing it out to him, he then saw that sticks float on top, and was able to bring it back over, and over, and over again.

And now, introducing the magical and wonderful, Landini! My little man chose to purchase this flower as his contribution to our garden, and it's been nothing short of mystical. This lily changes color in different lighting from blood red, to black and deep purple in between, and is only photographed when it wants to be! Certain times of day it's so radiant in it's garden position, that the camera just will not focus. There's certainly some trickery with this one, and I appreciate that it pushed me to get even more inventive and in essence, more intense photos. The Landini Lily is here to stay.
